Are You Ready? “Foolproof” Airport Security “Flight Suit” May be Coming

Flying is being increasingly restrictive. This is no surprise as terrorists are becoming increasingly inventive.

A new plan being drawn up, called “Flight Suit”, may be the final frontier to airline security.

The plan calls for passengers changing into one time use, thick paper pajama “flight suits”.

Some known details of the plan create a picture of what future air travel may look like.

It begins with a walk into an open changing room stall. Take off all of your clothing and belongings in the stall, and place them into clear sealable containers, underwear and all.

Hit a large green button on the wall and a voice tells you to stand still as the lights turn red and air jets blow on your body to detect the presence of explosive chemicals.

A scale in the floor measures your weight as two perpendicular lasers in the wall and ceiling measure the dimensions of your body. A computer then figures your “density” to look for abnormalities which would indicate you may have ingested a device.

When the lights turn green, a voice instructs you to take your “flight suit” out of the dispensor and put it on. Using data from the scan, it even suggests your size.

The suits may come in 5 to 8 different sizes for men and women and include slippers, underwear, bra (for women), pants, and shirt. The suits are made from a cloth like paper material, elastic bands, and drawstrings.

Women are allowed access to generic feminine products as well.

Clothing maker contractors being considered are hospital and prison clothing suppliers.

The max suit weight is calculated for men and women. During boarding, passengers step across another scale to ensure they have picked up no items in the airport.

The new “Flight Suit” security plan, on top of current security, is said to be as foolproof for passengers as possible barring a full body cavity search. All bags, clothing, and items are screened seperately a second time before being loaded beneath the plane.

The “Flight Suit” plan is still on the drawing board, and has been kicked around for years. But recent events could cause it to become reality. The most recent airplane bombing attempt involved a hidden device in the suspect’s underwear and proved undetectable to current security measures.

The TSA is not known for its deep respect for civil liberties. The upside of this plan may be that, unlike other types of body screening, this does not involve anyone touching or feeling all over your body nor someone sitting at a monitor looking at a computer image of your naked body.
