Tiger just won Athlete of the Decade by the AP.  At the same time, many news sources are reporting that his wife, Elin Nordegren, is leaving him and plans to announce her intent to divorce after Christmas.  The sources of that story are hitting on all cylinders, from People, the Mirror, and TMZ.  Normally, these places are about as newsworthy as a bowl full of sugar is nutritious, but when it comes to divorce and affairs, they are usually pretty good about verifying sources.

    This puts Tiger’s sponsors in a precarious position.  Nike decided to stay, and they win.  But how do car companies, after shave companies, and investment companies benefit?  Athlete of the Decade will keep you in “swoosh love”, but divorce could ensure that Gillette will keep the prospects of renewing a contract with him shaved closer than any multi-blade razor.  Tiger didn’t believe that one woman was “the best a man can get”.

    He may find better prospects selling a cologne.  Possibly called “Player of the Year”.  Read that however you want. (And if you use it Tiger, send me a cut for suggesting such a brilliant name!)

    His wife, Elin, looks to file in California, and could wind up with hundreds of millions of dollars depending on how much Tiger is truly worth.  Many put his actual value at over $1 billion, though the damage to his brand has certainly lowered that number in the past few weeks.  Whether a court takes that into account, or whether they only look at only tangible assets, is for state law and a judge to decide.

    Another rumor has it that she may not need the money.  It almost seems like a joke, but Elin may have a deal with Tiger backing Nike’s rival, Puma.

    “I thought winning the lotto was supposed to bring together a family, a husband and his wife. But all I got was deception and lies,” Campbell said to the Miami Herald.

    Nobody can find Ramdass.  And I’m sure that if he is found, that is exactly what she’ll like done to him, ram’d'ass.  After all, having been left homeless, that is exactly what he has done to her.
