URGENT: Multiple Food Recalls Issued Across U.S. – Salmonella, Radioactive Contamination, and Allergen Risks
October 18, 2025 – Consumers are being urged to check their kitchens immediately as federal and state health authorities issue a cascade of food safety alerts spanning everything from radioactive shrimp to contaminated eggs and mislabeled allergens.
Salmonella Risk in Pasture-Raised Eggs
Kenz Henz has recalled its Grade AA Large Pasture Raised Eggs due to potential Salmonella contamination. Consumers who have purchased these eggs should discard them immediately or return them to the point of purchase. Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.
Radioactive Contamination Found in Frozen Shrimp
In an alarming development, AquaStar Corp and related brands have voluntarily recalled frozen raw shrimp products after detecting exposure to very low levels of cesium-137 (Cs-137), a radioactive isotope. While the company describes the levels as “very low,” consumers are advised to dispose of affected products. The source of the radioactive contamination has not been disclosed.
Lead Detected in Ground Cinnamon
Haetae ground cinnamon has been flagged for possible lead contamination. Lead exposure can cause serious health problems, especially in children, including developmental delays and neurological damage. Consumers should stop using the product immediately.
Undeclared Allergens Spark Multiple Recalls
Several major brands are recalling products due to undeclared allergens that pose serious risks to individuals with food allergies:
- Publix: Rich & Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream – undeclared egg allergen
- Cabot Creamery: Sea Salt Caramel Cheddar Popcorn – undeclared peanuts
- Nat’s Nuts: Cinnamon Whiskey Pecans – undeclared cashews
- Aldi (UK): Ashfields Thin Cut Beef Steaks – undeclared milk allergen
For individuals with severe allergies, consuming these mislabeled products could trigger life-threatening anaphylactic reactions.
CDC Issues Listeria Alert for Pasta Meals
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a food safety alert for a Listeria outbreak linked to pre-cooked chicken fettuccine alfredo pasta meals. The recall is ongoing. Listeria infection can cause fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal symptoms, and can be particularly dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals.
What Consumers Should Do
Health officials recommend:
- Check your refrigerators and pantries for recalled products immediately
- Do not consume any recalled items
- Return products to the store for a full refund or safely dispose of them
- Clean any surfaces that may have come into contact with recalled products
- Seek medical attention if you experience symptoms after consuming any recalled foods
